Author Message Unregistered guest Posted on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 03:10 pm: I have installed a wavecom M1206B-ON gprs modem, but cannot get it to connect to the vodafone mmsc to download mms messages. When setting up the modem i put in the correct settings as i have got off other forum posts, but it still comes back with a failure when i test. I know the sim card is gprs and mms enabled as i use it in my phone. Does anyone know where to get drivers for the wavecom for windows 2000, or any other setup that needs to be done to get it to work with NowMMS 5.0 thanks George.

Do note that Wavecom has some firmware issues, so that can be a problem. It has seemed to me that Wavecom doesn't produce any drivers specific to their modems. In the past, we have recommended that people use the 'Standard' or 'Generic' drivers in Windows. Usually the '19200 bps' version works best, but you can try different speeds.

Board Administrator Username: Bryce Post Number: 2539 Registered: 10-2002 Posted on Friday, May 07, 2004 - 07:14 pm: If you configure a Windows modem driver, the speed configured for the driver will be used. Windows modem drivers are configured under the Windows Control Panel. 'Phone & Modem Options'. In the properties for the Modem under that definition, you can set the 'Maximum Port speed' to 9600. Then configure NowSMS to access the modem via the named modem driver instead of direct to the COM port name.
If you don't use a Windows modem driver, and configure NowSMS to talk to a COM port directly, NowSMS will try to automatically figure out the correct speed at which to talk to the modem. -bn Unregistered guest Posted on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 - 08:17 am: I'm having problems trying to connect to the internet with the Wavecom 1206b fasttrack.

With the Siemens I had to install a '.inf' before I could connect up to the net. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

We're not aware of any Windows modem drivers produced by Wavecom. We advise people to use the 'Standard' modem drivers from Windows. Error 692 means that Windows says that there is a hardware failure in the port. But this could just mean that the modem driver is talking to the modem at the wrong speed. Try querying the modem in the diagnostics area of phone & modem options in the control panel, and make sure that the modem is working properly there. Also, there is a log file that you can enable there, so you might want to enable that and view it to see what errors are being reported by Windows in that log file.
