THE ARREST Based on the leads, the NIA had arrested five youths, identified as Abbas Ali, Suleiman, Samsum Karim Raja, Mohammad Ayub Ali and Shamsudeen from Madurai and Chennai. Among those arrested is Suleiman a 23-year-old software professional who is a native of Madurai. Agencies believe that Suleiman is the leader of this 'Base Movement', who along with others plotted the attack in courts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.

Investigation also revealed that Suleiman, who works with TCS in Chennai used his engineering expertise to assemble the IEDs. During the investigation, it was revealed that all the arrested youth first met each other at a local Masjid during prayers. During their interaction Abbas Ali who runs a library in the name Darul Ilm at Madurai started radicalising Suleiman, Samsum Karim Raja, Mohammad Ayub Ali and Shamsudeen.

THE SERIAL BLASTS The chain of event started on April 7 from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, where the first blast took place in a local court compound. Initially the police thought that it was the work of local fraction groups fighting for power. But few months later, another blast took place at chief judicial magistrate court of Kollam district, Kerala on June 15.

The pen drive also had a message saying that a 'Base Movement' is firmed, and it will carry out more such attacks on courts in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Later this very 'Base Movement' again carried out a low intensity blast at Malappuram court premises on November 1.
