Download the latest drivers for your HP Pavilion dv9700 to keep your Computer up-to-date. Driver Scape. Windows Driver Download Center. Windows Vista 32 & 64bit.
Hi Experts: I have an HP pavilion dv9700 notebook computer with Vista h/p on it. Have purchased the win 7 upgrade, & want to make a clean install. I understand that is possible by starting in vista & booting to win 7 disk. Policy manual software. Checking HP web sit they have no win 7 drivers & do not intend to provide them. It's basically go find them where you can! This is my first experience with win 7.
Any assistance in making this upgrade would be most appreciated! Sure looking forward to giving it a test drive! Thanks, Techgeezer. In Vista, click start and begin typing 'backup and restore'. Select it and on the window that opens, on the left side column, select 'create a system image'.
Also create a 'system repair disk'. Once this is done, just like you mentioned, insert your Windows 7 disk and go for it.
It's instructions are easy to follow. It should pickup the drivers automatically. If it misses one we can tackle it when it does. In a worst case scenario that the driver cannot be found (highly unlikely) you can still always return to the image you created before. Make sure you backup your data separately. The image will have a copy of your data but it will be complicated for you to just extract the data in case you are successful with Windows 7.
To prevent this, make the image of Vista with the data and everything but also copy your data separately so you can place it back into Windows 7 when you finish dealing with the drivers issue. I hope this helps.
Hello Techgeezer, Have you tried any of the drivers available for Vista? Windows 7 and Windows Vista are very similar, and in some cases you can reuse the drivers from Vista (make sure that if you're using Windows 7 64-bit, to download the Vista 64-bit drivers). As the previous comments suggest, I would very much recommend you backing up your computer, so that you have a fallback in case something goes wrong.
I've pasted a link below to the driver page to 32-bit drivers available from HP: You may want to go back and double check the model as I just looked at the dv9700 drivers. Windows 7 should automatically pick up the drivers for all except for a few. The few that are not auto, you can download from hp using the Vista drivers. However, the Audio and Video will not work with the vista driver. Nvidia M8600 GT is the video driver, which uses a Unified architecture for their drivers, but for some reason, they put restrictions in the INF setup file for which card/OS can use it, you can get a modified INF file, replace the old INF with the modified one (keeping the old one of course) and run the setup.

You can get the Modded INF at laptopvideo2go and use the 195.62 driver, which will work for certain. I have used this in my sisters dv9700 and it works excellently. Now as for the Audio Driver, ive been working on this for two days, and just now i was notified that the audio has not been working for months, so unfortunately I cannot tell you with certainty, but there are drivers from realtek directly -High Definition Audio Driver at Hope that helps.
